Monterey California

Arrived here on Sunday October 5th and will be here for a few days . The yacht club here was very friendly in fact they gave us the combination to go in and help ourselves on the honour roll, how very civilized

As we approached the assigned slip we found that  both sides had plywood fences on them, this is to keep the sea lions off.

We needed to do  a huge load of laundry when we got here. To get to the laundry we had to use a pay phone, only it did not appear to be working correctly, as the sheriff showed up.  They asked us if we had called for help we explained that some young people had been playing with the phone.  We were just trying to call a taxi to get to the laundry-mat.  The Sheriff decided it would be better if they called the taxi for us.

We also met up with some sailing friends from Victoria (Tony and Nancy on Moodancer)they had tried anchoring outside the marina but the swell was building up and they decided to move into the marina

Spent Monday touring their world class aquarium and taking a tour of the area on a transit bus. For 4.50 you cannot go wrong.

Lynn spent most of the first night tearing the boat apart as we had a strange sound inside it sounded like electrical snaps  Little did we know it was coming from the ocean. This is where we were introduced to Snapping Shrimp.
